WWW.COOP – New Site Launches on International Co-op Day

On Saturday, July 5, .coop celebrated the 86th International Co-operative Day by turning the switch on a new www.coop site with a focus on providing the answers to the questions that people ask most about .coop. Besides putting this information right on the home page of the www.coop site, the site sports a new look that emphasizes our renewed focus on providing .coop to the world. We have also added an RSS feed that anyone can sign up for to keep up-to-date on issues that affect .coop and .coop users. Just click on the RSS feed option on the home page under ""Registry News"" and you'll be able to get any news items right away. Plans call for us to add a blog where .coop can post their stories and get recognized by the global co-op community for promoting their cooperative identity. Besides news about .coop, we also have the news feed for the ICA site so you can keep up with their alerts and what's happening with co-ops around the world.

The ""buy a .coop domain"" section steps you through the process of finding your name, buying it and pointers on what other services you might need to start using your .coop name. And at the end is the typical FAQ section which tries to answer all your questions. Let us know if it doesn't at support@nic.coop.

The www.directory.coop information has also been co-located on this site. Plus we've added some additional information on active .coop sites so you can have a thumbnail version of the site right on our directory listing. Next up will be a map-driven locator so you can find out exactly where the other co-op businesses in your area are located. There are more than you probably realize!

So take a look around the new www.coop and let us know what you think. We've got lots of plans for the future and hopefully your ideas for what will make this site useful to you and other co-ops is the same as ours. Let us know what else we need at support@nic.coop.

Just a reminder to sign up for the RSS feed so you can find out right away when we add more to the site. And happy International Co-op Day!
