Contract Signed with ICANN for .coop Renewal
DotCoop signed a new agreement with ICANN which maintains the
essential elements of the eligibility criteria for the .coop domain
name space.
DotCooperation LLC, the wholly owned subsidiary of NCBA that is the
sponsor of the .coop Internet domain, signed the renewal of its
contract with ICANN on July 16th.
The renewal, which extends the agreement for 10 years, was the
first renewal of the group of sponsored TLDs that were approved in
November, 2000. Once again, dotCoop broke new ground in
successfully completing this process which began in November 2005
with the submission of a renewal proposal to ICANN.
DotCoop worked closely with our registry operator, Midcounties
Co-operative Domains in Oxford, UK, in crafting a contract that
preserves the critical policy and verification responsibilities
that provide .coop registrants confidence in the .coop domain
space.
For more about the renewal process, visit the www.icann.org
website.
Changes will be made to the Registrant contract and to other
related documents such as the Dispute Policy document on this site
based on related changes in the ICANN contract. Look for more
information on this in the coming weeks.
